Analytical Development Chemist

Location:

Haverhill

Salary: circa £40,000 per annum

Job Type: Full-time

Hours:

9:00am – 5:30pm, 36 hours per week

Pure Kat Consultancy is recruiting for an experienced Analytical Development Chemist to join the R&D team for our client based in Haverhill.

Your duties as an Analytical Development Chemist will include:
  • Developing, optimising and pre-validating analytical methods for APIs, polymers, drug product formulations, particularly amorphous solid dispersions, intermediates and raw materials
  • Primarily using HPLC, UHPLC and GC, including hyphenated techniques such as LC-MS and GC-MS
  • Supporting the development of analytical methods
  • Supporting analytical method transfers and troubleshooting activities
  • Investigating analytical issues
  • Generating high-quality technical documentation
  • Collaborating with R&D, Quality and Manufacturing teams to ensure the seamless integration of analytical methods
  • Maintaining compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), ICH guidelines and internal quality systems.
  • Working with a range of analytical techniques.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • A BSc, MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related discipline, or extensive relevant industrial experience.
  • Proven experience in analytical method development, ideally gained within a pharmaceutical, contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) or similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with HPLC, UHPLC and/or GC instrumentation and associated software.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations relating to analytical methods used for API release testing.
  • Experience with analytical method development, optimisation and troubleshooting.
  • Good technical report writing and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cGMP and ICH guidelines would be highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and scientific problem‑solving skills.
