Title of Position
Principal Clerk Transportation Department (12 month position)
EmploymentWork year:
July – June (12 months). Effective date of employment: 2026‑2027. Starting date: immediately.
Salary: $41,789 to $47,404 per year (Clerical Salary Scale).
Organizational RelationshipDirectly responsible to the Supervisor of Transportation.
Statement of Duties- Performs a variety of clerical activities related to the functions of assigned school office and/or programs.
- Greet public, receive visitors in office and follow the proper protocol in allowing access to the building.
- Answer telephones, take messages and refer callers to appropriate staff members.
- Open, sort and route incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail.
- Schedule appointments.
- Prepare memos, correspondence and/or reports from handwritten copy, notes or verbal direction.
- Requisition textbooks, school supplies, equipment and other school‑related forms.
- Monitor and respond to radio communications.
- Prepare weekly payroll of personnel.
- Compile school budget and perform related work.
- Keep up‑to‑date enrollment data; maintain pupil and personnel files.
- Maintain the School Brains student database.
- Maintain accurate student and staff attendance.
- Participate on the Building Crisis Response Team.
- Provide teachers with all necessary data and forms.
- Perform all other general duties as indicated by the Principal and his/her designee.
- Assist in dispatching of all bus related activities.
- Coordinate specialized bus transportation to include in‑district and out‑of‑district routes.
- May require late afternoons into early evenings.
- High School Diploma.
- Secretarial and/or clerical experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong effective time management and planning capabilities.
- Performs all clerical work in the office with little supervision.
- Self‑motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
- Ability to multi‑task when necessary.
- Skills to operate standard office equipment, including computer applications and various business machines.
- Perform data entry and word processing; data entry will include daily student attendance, daily staff attendance, current enrollment data, student information, budget documents, supply orders and other data as required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with Apple software, School Brains, and Budget sense.
- Knowledge of transportation routing systems.
- Knowledge of Synovia GPS systems.
- Familiarity with radio communications.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Previous experience in a school environment preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the building Principal or his/her designee may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
