School Adjustment Counselor – High School

Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary Range: $56,473 – $112,526 per year

Reports to the Executive Director of Student Support Services and the Building Principal or designee.
Statement of Duties- Facilitate social skills groups and individual supports on topics such as communication, relationships, conflict resolution, self‑esteem, social media, and mindfulness.
- Lead Tier 3 intervention groups aligned with IEP goals and objectives, using data to inform decisions.
- Provide consultation to students with emotional or academic concerns and support teachers in implementing accommodations and support plans.
- Participate in the building’s instructional support team, crisis management and response teams.
- Collect and analyze data to develop IEP goals and objectives.
- Complete assessments to identify students with disabilities under IDEA.
- Know relevant laws and regulations governing schools and agencies supporting students and families.
- Attend IEP meetings and serve as liaison, as assigned.
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and collaborate on Positive Behavioral Intervention Plans.
- Conduct risk assessments; communicate with families and community agencies to ensure student safety.
- Complete required paperwork and job‑related functions reliably and timely in accordance with DESE guidelines.
- Complete Medicaid documentation required by the district.
- Attend district and school‑based meetings, trainings, and professional development.
- Liaise between outside agencies and the school team.
- Facilitate inclusion opportunities for students where appropriate.
- Attend school‑wide events, including some evenings.
- Work collegially with school and community teams, including IEP teams.
- Perform other general duties as directed by leadership and policy.
- Licensed School Adjustment Counselor/Social Worker by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling.
- Ability to provide individual and small group counseling to school‑age students.
- Ability to work closely with parents, teachers, and administrators.
- Ability to conduct home visits and write developmental histories.
- Knowledge of special education programs and laws.
- Knowledge of area mental health services.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Bilingual preferred.
