Position: STUDENT SUPPORT COORDINATOR SUMMER DISCOVERY ACADEMY

Student Support Coordinator – Summer Discovery Academy

Location: Haverhill Public Schools, Nettle Middle School, Haverhill, Massachusetts

Starting Date: Immediately

Work Year: July 6, 2026 – July 30, 2026;
Monday – Thursday, 7:30 am to 12:00 pm

Training: In June, dates TBD

Salary: $30 per hour; prorated if appointment is not completed

Line of Authority: Director of Out-of-School Time Programming, in collaboration with Offices of Title I and Title III

Statement of Duties:

  • Provide counseling and support to designated special‑needs students and their families.
  • Provide individual and group counseling as outlined in students’ educational plans.
  • Conduct home visits as requested.
  • Participate in crisis intervention.
  • Consult regularly with classroom teachers regarding special‑needs students.
  • Establish lines of communication and build relationships with area human service agencies.
  • Coordinate with the Supervisor of Attendance on CHINS petitions, 51

    As, etc.
  • Perform other general duties as directed by the Director of Special Education, the Building Principal, Superintendent of Schools, or School Committee policies.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed School Adjustment Counselor or Social Worker by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (Required).
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling (Preferred).
  • Ability to provide individual and small‑group counseling to school‑age students.
  • Ability to work closely and harmoniously with parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Ability to conduct home visits and write developmental histories.
  • Knowledge of special education programs and laws.
  • Knowledge of area mental health services.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Other qualifications acceptable to the Superintendent of Schools.

Position Type: Full‑Time

Experience and Requirements:

  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
