Job Description

Anticipated Opening: Position is contingent on funding and student enrollment.

School: Spring #5685503.

Summer Program: ESY Special Education.

Dates /

Hours:

June 29 – August
6. Monday–Thursday weekly planning meetings, pre and post‑work, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (subject to change based on enrollment).

Work Location: Bartlett School & Assessment Center.

Summary: Provides support for students within the building that may or may not be in a specialized education program.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately completes all required documentation and data collection daily.
  • Works with an individual student to reinforce learning of material or skills as described in the IEP/treatment plan.
  • Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of the individual student, his/her needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Assists the student throughout the school environment as necessary.
  • Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about the individual student.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the student as expected of fully licensed teachers.
  • Participates in in‑service training programs as assigned.
  • Performs other general duties as indicated by the Director of Special Education, Superintendent/Building Principal or their designee and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications Requirements
  • Sixty semester hours of postsecondary work or an associate degree.
  • Safety Care Training Required.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements.
