Director of HVAC/R

Lead the Program. Stay Hands-On. Shape the Future of the Trades.

NETTTS — New England Tractor Trailer Training School — has been training skilled tradespeople for over 60 years. As one of New England's most established vocational institutions, we take seriously our role in preparing students for careers that matter.

The Director of HVAC/R leads the full instructional operation of our HVAC/R department—overseeing day, afternoon, and evening shifts and managing a team that includes instructors, shift leads, and lab assistants. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable on the floor with students as they are collaborating with campus leadership.

The right candidate brings deep technical knowledge of HVAC/R systems, a proven ability to develop instructional staff, and the operational discipline to run a multi-shift department with consistency and accountability. If you're looking for a role where your expertise directly shapes real career outcomes for real people—this is it.

What You'll Do
  • Lead all aspects of the HVAC/R training program across day, afternoon, and evening shifts
  • Stay actively involved in instruction—teaching, demonstrating, and stepping in when coverage is needed
  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop a team of HVAC/R instructors
  • Drive student success by engaging with students from orientation through graduation
  • Partner with campus leadership to monitor progress, improve outcomes, and prepare students for licensing and careers
  • Oversee scheduling, staffing, and daily operations to ensure consistent training across all shifts
  • Manage tools, equipment, and departmental budget
  • Ensure curriculum aligns with state licensing requirements and industry standards
  • Maintain a safe, compliant training environment in line with OSHA and regulatory requirements
  • Serve as the go-to leader for resolving student and instructor concerns
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of hands-on HVAC/R experience (installation, service, troubleshooting)
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification (required)
  • Leadership or supervisory experience (in the field or training environment)
  • Ability and willingness to stay hands-on in daily instruction
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • A passion for teaching, mentoring, and helping others succeed
  • Experience working across multiple shifts or managing schedules is a plus
  • Prior experience in a training or educational environment is a plus

Why NETTTS?

At NETTTS, you're not just filling a role—you're building careers. You'll have the opportunity to shape a program, mentor instructors, and directly impact students who are working toward a better future.

We value leaders who lead from the front, support their teams, and take pride in developing the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary
  • Generous paid time off (PTO)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Supplemental benefits
  • Company-paid long-term disability (LTD)
  • 401(k) with employer match
