Reading/Literacy Coach (K-4)

READING/LITERACY TEACHER (COACH) K-4

August - June;
Effective Date of Employment:  School Year.

Salary: $56,473 to $112,526 per year.

Serves as liaison between the ELA Supervisor, Reading Interventionist, and classroom teachers. Consults with classroom teachers on grouping, testing, student placement, and instructional strategies. Supports teachers by providing resources and ideas about assessment and instruction. Models lessons, problem solves with teachers, and facilitates group discussions. Assists in selection of instructional materials and delivers daily lessons using standards-based instructional practices. Provides professional development in literacy instruction and works with teachers to improve fidelity of literacy instruction.

Participates in kindergarten screening, team evaluations, and testing of new students. Assists in data analysis and interpretation, promotes student interest in independent reading, inventories Language Arts materials, and works cooperatively with Title I, Special Education, Reading Interventionist, and administrators. Attends monthly Literacy Meetings with the ELA Supervisor and performs general duties as directed by the building Principal, ELA Supervisor, Superintendent, or designees and by Haverhill School Committee policies.

• Certified as a Teacher of Reading by the Massachusetts Department of Education, SEI Endorsement.
• Education in Reading preferred.
• Demonstrated classroom teaching experience.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts ELA/Literacy Framework.
• Ability to collaborate with teachers to improve classroom literacy instruction.
• Basic understanding of adult learning and leadership skills to support teachers.

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
