Position: MATHEMATICS INSTRUCTOR

Mathematics Teacher

Starting Date: Aug 31, 2026

Position Type: Full-time (10 months)

Salary: $64,472 - $118,996 (FY27 salary schedule, depending on experience, licensure & degree/credits)

Qualifications
  • Licensed or qualified for licensure by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Secondary Mathematics.
Responsibilities
  • Implement and periodically update a course of study based upon the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks/Common Core Standards.
  • Maintain all records necessary for reporting student grades, performance and the documentation of student competencies.
  • Prepare lesson plans at least two weeks in advance.
  • Establish and enforce a disciplinary code consistent with the student handbook which reinforces a professional atmosphere.
  • Maintain and update a department inventory.
  • Utilize assessment data to drive instruction and support student learning.
  • Utilize data from state tests and Whittier tests to address areas of weakness during both in‑school and after‑school tutoring.
  • Establish and maintain a tutoring schedule for all students who have not passed MCAS, are in danger of failing Mathematics, or those students who request tutoring.
  • Provide students with the necessary grade‑level 21st‑century mathematics skills essential for both college and career readiness.
  • Responsible for meeting all administrative deadlines.
  • Maintain the condition of the classroom facilities.
  • Support efforts outlined in the School Improvement Plan.
  • Implement the inclusion model of education and work to promote achievement by all students.
  • Implement and support the Whittier Tech iPad/Technology Initiative.
  • Involve and communicate regularly with parents in their child’s academic activities and performance.
  • Establish and maintain a stimulating, attractive environment for learning using varied techniques.
  • Incorporate standards‑based teaching strategies in the classroom.
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community.
  • Follow procedures that have been established for the health and safety of all students.
  • Perform all duties and functions as deemed necessary by the Superintendent, Administration and his/her designee.
