Organization Relationship: Directly responsible to the District Principal in all matters pertaining to the building.

Line of Authority: Jointly responsible to appropriate Principal/Supervisor in areas of instruction and curriculum.

Statement of Duties:

• Substitute daily for absent professional staff as determined by Principal/designee.
• Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
• Possess the ability to adapt to a variety of lesson plans when covering various subjects or grades.
• Provide summary of activities accomplished, lesson plans completed and not completed, and any other additional information that the classroom teacher should be aware of.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students and report all student discipline issues to the appropriate authority.
• Adhere to district policies for staff.
• If there is not a need for a teacher substitute for the day, the BBES will be assigned another area of responsibility for the day.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Principal or directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.

Hours of Work:

• Pre‑School: 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
• Elementary: 8:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.
• Middle School: 8:15 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
• High School: 7:15 a.m. – 2:15 p.m.

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
• Licensed by the State Department of Education in Massachusetts, preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
