Responsible to the Principal, Curriculum Supervisors, and Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
Statement of Duties Curriculum and Planning- Possesses sound knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and pedagogy, consistently engaging students in learning experiences that enable acquisition of complex knowledge and skills.
- Understands developmental levels of students and provides differentiated learning experiences enabling all students to progress toward intended outcomes.
- Designs units of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks requiring higher-order thinking skills aligned with state standards and local curricula.
- Designs well-structured lessons with measurable objectives, student engagement strategies, pacing, sequencing, activities, materials, resources, technologies, and grouping.
- Designs and administers a variety of informal and formal assessments, including common interim assessments, to measure student learning, growth, and progress toward standards.
- Analyzes results to determine progress, uses findings to adjust practice, and implements differentiated interventions.
- Draws conclusions from assessment data to improve student learning.
- Shares findings with colleagues (general education, special education, English learner staff), seeks feedback to support improved student learning.
- Provides descriptive feedback and engages students and families in constructive conversations focused on performance improvement.
- Defines high expectations for student work quality and perseverance, provides exemplars, rubrics, and guided practice.
- Consistently uses motivational and engaging instructional practices.
