A Chief Engineer will lead facility operations, overseeing preventive maintenance, ensuring code compliance (OSHA, local), implementing energy efficiency strategies to maintain a safe, functional, and cost-effective environment for occupants and operations.
Key Responsibilities- Direct daily engineering/maintenance, monitor Plant Systems and handle emergency responses.
- Train, mentor, and manage Operating staff and third-party contractors; conduct performance reviews.
- Oversee and operate 3 boilers managing a 3‑man crew to assure 24‑hour coverage Monday through Friday.
- Schedule shut‑downs for maintenance and inspections.
- Ensure all logbooks and round sheets are current and stored properly.
- Ensure water chemistry vendor performs weekly testing and maintenance.
- Ensure adherence to local/federal codes, manage safety protocols (OSHA).
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and steam plant automation systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Familiarity with building codes and safety regulations a plus.
- Requires 3rd Class Engineers license, high school diploma/GED plus relevant technical experience.
