Senior Chemical Production Operator

Cabot Corporation (NYSE: CBT) is a global specialty chemicals company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. The role involves operating chemical processes and related equipment within the distributed control system (DCS) and supporting production units and energy stations.

• Operate and control chemical processes and related equipment using the DCS.
• Follow work instructions and Product Quality Control Plans.
• Operate energy center and/or control room equipment as needed.
• Adjust controls to regulate variables for production units and energy stations.
• Perform set-up procedures to prepare systems for operation.
• Monitor and troubleshoot processes to maintain required operating conditions.
• Conduct in-process Quality Control testing.
• Perform minor maintenance on process and support equipment in production and energy centers.
• Use business management systems to enter work orders and requisitions, if applicable.
• Transfer, move, and package materials; assist with loading/unloading.
• Participate in scheduled safety meetings and complete safety training requirements.
• Provide training and guidance to operators in training.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• General mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read and interpret complex operating instructions.
• Basic knowledge of shop mathematics and ability to read blueprints.
• High level of safety awareness.
• Strong written, verbal, and active listening skills.
• Capacity to cross‑train with other operating units.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑based environment.
• Organizational and record‑keeping skills.
• Familiarity with computers as a user.
• Flexibility to perform changing assignments and work schedules.
• Ability to lift heavy containers and use material‑handling equipment.
• Calmness and effectiveness in critical situations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Additional course of study and licensing for chemical and/or power station operation.
• 5–7 years of chemical operation experience.
• Minimum 12 months in current position to be eligible for internal postings.

• Training period pay: $29.69 to $40.83 per hour.
• Compensation offered will vary based on skill, qualifications, and experience.
