Salary: $15.00 per hour
Organizational RelationshipDirectly responsible to the Transportation Coordinator and/or his/her designee.
Statement of Duties- The primary duty of a monitor is to assist the driver in maintaining control on the bus and to monitor the behavior of the students.
- Monitors should help the driver survey the front of the bus and check the rear emergency door to see if it is working properly.
- Monitors will survey the entire bus during runs for possible sources of injury to students.
- Monitors will see that the children load and unload the bus in an orderly and proper manner.
- Monitors are to do a seat check upon completion of routes to be sure that the bus is empty and to pick up any belongings that may have been left on the bus.
- They should inform students about safety rules: what they "can do" and "cannot do" on the bus.
- They should assist in bus evacuation drills.
- They should report any student behavior problems to the school principal or assistant principal.
- Monitors need to work in cooperation with the bus driver, the parents and the school administrators to help to maintain control on the bus.
- Demonstrate qualities of neatness/cleanliness, punctuality, and a willingness to follow directions and guidelines.
- Demonstrate ability to adapt to change, be compatible with children and adults and be able to function in a school environment.
- Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Excellent customer service, problem solving and communication skills required.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Bilingual preferred
