Accountant II

Accountant II needed for our Business Office. Available immediately, permanent full time position. Classification - Confidential Secretary - salary based on experience.

JOB GOAL:
The Accountant II is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced accounting duties in support of the school district's financial operations. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance with state and federal requirements, and assists with budget preparation, grant management, and auditing processes. The Accountant II works under the supervision of the Controller and collaborates with district administrators and staff to maintain sound fiscal practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepare, review, and maintain general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and journal vouchers.
  • Analyze, reconcile, and process food services invoices and related federal reimbursement claims.
  • Monitor and track grant revenues and expenditures to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Assist with payroll and benefits reconciliations, retirement reporting, and related financial processes.
  • Review capital projects, purchase orders, invoices, and payment vouchers for accuracy and proper account coding.
  • Support annual external audits, providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare reports required by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and other regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements and district policies.
  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations to administration regarding expenditures and cost-saving measures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee records at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Performs in accordance with school policy, administrative regulations, state and federal laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelors Degree In Accounting, Finance or related field

WORK EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years Prior experience in the field of Accounting

CERTIFICATIONS:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
