Laborer, Heavy Civil Construction
Are you motivated to work safely on construction sites? Are you comfortable using hand tools, power tools, shovels, rakes, and other basic construction tools? Do you pride yourself on being dependable, performing physical labor with minimal supervision, and learning a trade? If so, you could be a great addition to our Heavy Civil Construction team at Williams! Williams Civil Construction is hiring Laborers to join our Heavy Civil team for a project in Havre, Montana.
This role will support utilities, site development, and heavy civil construction work alongside our traveling crew, with the opportunity to continue traveling with the team to future projects after the Havre project is complete. As a Laborer, you will help clean and prepare job sites, dig trenches, assist with excavation support, clean up rubble and debris, remove waste materials, handle materials, and put in a good day's work alongside the crew.
What You'll Do:
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor on civil and heavy/highway construction projects.
- Assist with preparing surfaces for paving and other site work.
- Shovel bituminous concrete, asphalt, gravel, dirt, and other materials into construction areas.
- Assist with patching asphalt using hot and cold mix.
- Excavate and fill trenches, ditches, and other work areas by hand.
- Help set up, maintain, and clean work zones in a safe and organized manner.
- Load and unload trucks, haul materials, and assist with material handling and storage.
- Follow directions from foremen, operators, and other crew members.
- Support the crew with day-to-day tasks as needed to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.
What You Bring:
- Previous construction or general labor experience preferred, but not required.
- Willingness and ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor conditions.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, shovels, rakes, and other basic construction tools safely.
- Basic understanding of job site safety, or a willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly with your team.
- Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and help wherever needed.
- Ability to work as part of a crew and take direction from supervisors.
- Basic math skills for measurements, quantities, and material handling are helpful.
What Williams Civil Construction Offers:
- This is a prevailing wage project with a pay rate of $47.36/hr.
