Associate Professor of Counselor Education, Tenure Track
The College of Arts, Sciences, and Education’s MEd Program in Counselor Education at Montana State University–Northern invites applications for a full‑time Associate Professor position. The role may be conducted in person or remotely, with preference for on‑campus faculty. The appointment is a 10‑month position, commencing August 1, 2026, with potential additional compensation for summer teaching.
Duties and Responsibilities- Teach core counseling courses, practicum, and internship with an emphasis on the School Counseling concentration.
- Advise students, develop fieldwork training sites, and contribute to curriculum maps and program evaluation.
- Participate in scholarly activities, community service, and committee membership to support student recruitment, retention, and progression.
- Lead efforts toward the program’s CACREP accreditation.
- Commit to approximately six weeks of on‑campus residence per year to satisfy university obligations.
- Earned doctorate in Counselor Education with a specialization in School Counseling (preferably from a CACREP‑accredited program).
- Professional experience as a school counselor.
- Experience teaching graduate‑level courses in distance and/or virtual learning environments.
- Proven ability to work effectively with students from diverse communities.
- Membership in professional counseling organizations relevant to the field.
- Licensed or licensed‑eligible as a School Counselor in Montana.
- Strong record of leadership and mentoring graduate students.
- Experience developing and strengthening partnerships with fieldwork training sites.
- Experience with curriculum mapping and program evaluation.
- Knowledge of CACREP accreditation standards and processes.
Full‑time faculty position, FTE 1. Salary commensurate with credentials and experience under the collective bargaining agreement. Benefits eligible. Union affiliation:
