Faculty Member for Automotive/Diesel Technology (ATDI) (Tenure Track or Non‑Tenure Track)

The College of Technical Sciences at Montana State University‑Northern (MSUN) invites applications for a 10‑month faculty position in Automotive/Diesel Technology (ATDI) to begin August 1 2026. The position may be filled as a tenure‑track Assistant Professor or a non‑tenure‑track Lecturer I. Effective teaching is the primary mission of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

The faculty member will teach approximately 24 credit hours of lecture/laboratory courses per academic year, primarily in automotive technology. Courses may also cover diesel/AG mechanics and related subjects. Responsibilities include academic and career advising, curriculum development, laboratory and classroom maintenance, program growth and assessment, and participation in campus committees. The successful candidate will collaborate with an external industry‑specific advisory board to ensure program quality and student employability.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Education and experience commensurate with rank.
  • Recent industry work experience with a strong background in electrical/electronics, engines, and automotive/diesel systems.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills.
  • For tenure‑track, a master’s degree is required for tenure; a bachelor’s degree in automotive technology or a related field is required to be considered for Assistant Professor.

  • Experience with, and willingness to embrace, new technologies.
