Overview
The Accounting Manager is a detail‑oriented accounting professional with full‑cycle accounting experience, a strong background in financial operations, and a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and collaborative communication.
A long‑established Maui organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the full scope of day‑to‑day accounting operations for its local business activities. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a small, collaborative team environment and enjoys owning the accounting function end‑to‑end. The Accounting Manager will ensure accurate financial reporting, manage payroll and benefits administration, support budgeting and audits, and serve as a key partner to organizational leadership by maintaining strong accounting practices, internal controls, and operational integrity.
Responsibilities- Manage daily accounting activities, including AP/AR, cash receipts, disbursements, and revenue/expense recognition.
- Oversee bi‑monthly payroll processing, employee benefits tracking, deductions, and payroll‑related taxes.
- Perform monthly and year‑end closes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare or support preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, schedules, and analyses.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure accuracy of all cash transactions.
- Record and maintain fixed assets, capital expenditures, and depreciation schedules.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax filings (including GET and RPT).
- Assist with budgeting, forecasts, and reporting needs.
- Support external audits and coordinate required documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
- Strong proficiency in general ledger accounting and month‑end/ year‑end close processes.
- Experience with Quick Books Enterprise and fixed asset systems.
- Skilled in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of GAAP and internal control practices.
- Ability to manage payroll, taxes, and benefits administration.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and support a small team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of hands‑on accounting experience.
- Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance.
- Familiarity with Hawaii’s GET and RPT preferred.
