Overview
Accounts Payable Clerk – We're looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our transportation team. If you enjoy working with numbers, keeping things organized, and ensuring everyone gets paid on time, this could be the perfect fit for you. We are a fast-paced company that values accuracy and efficiency, and we need someone who can keep up with our growing business.
Responsibilities- Process and verify invoices from vendors and suppliers for payment
- Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices to ensure accuracy
- Enter accounts payable data into the accounting system and maintain accurate records
- Prepare and process check runs and electronic payments on scheduled payment dates
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues
- Maintain organized filing systems for all accounts payable documentation
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and invoice questions
- Assist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable
- Track and manage expense reports from drivers and staff
- Monitor aging reports and ensure timely payment of invoices
- Help maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Support the accounting team with special projects as needed
- 2-3 years of accounts payable experience, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data
- Solid understanding of accounts payable processes and best practices
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines consistently
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Experience with Sage 300 preferred
- Experience with Quick Books
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
- Problem-solving skills and ability to resolve invoice discrepancies
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- Relevant accounting certifications are a plus
