Duties Summary

NOTE:

THIS VACANCY IS NOT SECRETARIAL, CLERICAL, OR OFFICE SUPPORT POSITION.
The Administrative Officer VI position is responsible for assisting a program manager/administrator in developing and overseeing the administrative aspects of a major statewide program and organization of extensive size, scope, complexity and diversity. The organization consists of several subordinate levels and involves an extensive formalized system of internal procedures and administrative controls. Subordinate levels are divided into specialized and distinct segments, which in turn are further divided, requiring several levels of supervision.

As warranted by the program's operations, positions typically supervise through subordinate professional, technical and/or clerical supervisory positions in providing the full range of professional administrative support services.
This position serves in an administrative capacity to oversee, plan, and administer the following staff support functions: budget coordination and monitoring; fiscal management and oversight; procurement of services and related contracting; grants management and compliance monitoring. Responsible for assuring fiscal management, oversight and to advise the division administrator on all budgetary and fiscal matters. Ensures that the division meets and complies with federal and state laws, rules, regulations, statutes, policies and agreements;

and performs other related duties as assigned.

:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education
:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree.
Specialized Experience
:
Four and one-half (4-1/2) years of business administration, public administration, or other responsible professional experience which required a high degree of analytical skill (e.g., operations management, business analyst, budget/fiscal analyst, etc.) and which involved evaluating and improving elements such as managerial policies, systems, work methods and practices, personnel needs and utilization, and quality of services rendered of an operating program.
Supervisory Aptitude
:
Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement will be considered to have been met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.
