JOB DUTIES :This is a regional position located in the Kaua’i Region Clinics of Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC), Kaua’i Region, a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i. The HHSC Kaua’i Region encompasses Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), both designated as critical access hospitals (CAH), as well as the Kaua’i Region Clinics and its affiliated entities.

The Kaua’i Region Clinics network is committed to providing a comprehensive array of high-quality medical services, including Family Practice, Outpatient Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Urology, Gastroenterology, Podiatry, Internal Medicine, and more. This extensive system ensures that the community has access to a diverse range of primary and specialized healthcare services, all delivered in a patient-centered and convenient outpatient setting. Staffed by a team of highly skilled healthcare professionals, including providers, nurses, and specialists, the clinic offers preventive care, diagnostic services, and tailored treatment options that address each patient's unique health needs.

The Clinic Receptionist I, under the supervision of the designated supervisor, welcomes patients to the clinics or outpatient services unit; interviews patients or accompanying parties to obtain required data; inputs information into computer system; schedule appointments, diagnostic studies, outpatient procedures and referrals; performs a variety of fiscal record keeping and clerical services; prepares, collects, files and maintains patient medical records; types and maintains related records;

and performs other duties as required.

This position requires flexibility to work on weekends and/or holidays as needed. Additionally, the successful candidate may be assigned to various clinic sites within the region to meet operational requirements.

This position reports directly to the Clerical Supervisor IV, position number 57323, or their designee.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:High school diploma or equivalent.

GENERAL

EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years of responsible typing, stenographic, substantive clerical work, or any combination of these experiences which duties demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, observe differences in copy and proofread words and numbers quickly and accurately, and operate various kinds of office equipment;

and ability to deal effectively with others in eliciting information and providing service.

LICENSURE: Acurrent, valid State of Hawai’i driver’s license, Type #3 is preferred.

NON-QUALIFYING

EXPERIENCE:

Experience limited to the performance of simple and repetitious clerical work which primarily involved a short cycle of tasks and manual dexterity shall not be considered qualifying. Examples of such non-qualifying work include but are not limited to such tasks as wrapping and unwrapping articles; opening envelopes, folders, and similar containers; affixing tags and labels; rearranging or tidying up office desks and equipment;
