Safety Management Specialist IV & V

Salary:
Level IV – $5,527 to $6,728 per month (SR‑22, Step D to I)
Level V – $6,221 to $7,568 per month (SR‑24, Step D to I)

The Safety Management Specialist plans, organizes and executes safety and certification programs for airport operations, including aircraft rescue and firefighting. The role involves:

• Implementing safety management system components such as policy, risk management, assurance and promotion.
• Collecting, analyzing, and evaluating safety data, and taking corrective actions as needed.
• Conducting internal evaluations, wildlife hazard mitigation, and inspections to identify and resolve deficiencies.
• Coordinating staff and supervising specialists (Level V).

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university.
• Professional
  
  Experience:
  
  Progressively responsible experience in safety or risk management programs, including policy development, inspections for compliance, corrective action implementation, and training curriculum development.
• Level IV: 2½ years of such experience.
• Level V: 3½ years of such experience.
• Supervisory
  
  Experience:
  
  Planning, scheduling, directing, assigning, reviewing, advising, training, and evaluating the work of others.
• Level IV: Demonstrated supervisory aptitude.
• Level V: 1 year of supervisory experience.
• Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license at time of appointment.
• Legal Authorization: Citizens, nationals, permanent resident aliens, or otherwise legally authorized to work in the United States.

Eligibility for a SIDA clearance requires a clean criminal history record as specified by federal regulations.
