Position: Events Associate, Hawai'i
Location: ‘Ewa Gentry

Position Overview

The Events Associate is responsible for managing and implementing a long list of resources, products, in‑person events and virtual events that further The Nature Conservancy’s mission and its target audiences (donors and supporters). This position works within one of our most important areas of Marketing – the production and delivery of compelling events and other experiences that bring our donors and partners closer to the work we do at The Nature Conservancy in Hawaii and the people who do it.

The role will be based out of Hawaii, with a strong preference for candidates located on Oahu, to ensure effective in‑person collaboration with teams across the islands.

Responsibilities & Scope
  • Manage and serve as team lead on assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with various participating staff, external vendors, and other third parties.
  • Develop materials and track communications between the parties to ensure the successful completion of all events.
  • Be responsible and accountable for meeting project goals and objectives.
  • Resolve complex issues independently within program area and act independently within program goals.
  • Coordinate and manage budgets for the events they produce and oversee day‑to‑day tasks of scheduling the pre‑planned event calendar annually.
  • 25% travel is required for business meetings and events, trainings, and/or team retreats and meetings.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Project

Specific Duties
  • Lead on the development of Marketing’s annual field trip series by identifying and scoping locations and leading the programming, branding and promotional efforts for these experiences.
  • Work closely with senior staff, field offices, department and division staff, vendors, and other key stakeholders to ensure events are developed in a highly collaborative and informed way and deliver positive donor experiences.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Experience cultivating and managing client/customer relationships in Hawai‘i.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading.
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Desired

    Qualifications:
  • Multi‑cultural or cross‑cultural experience preferred, ideally a familiarity and understanding of Hawai‘i.
  • Multi‑lingual skills appreciated.
  • Experience leading in a team‑based environment with internal and/or external partners.
  • Experience applying marketing principles on projects/programs.
  • Experience conceiving and writing creatively, tailoring technical or scientific information for non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience managing a budget.
  • Practical knowledge of current and evolving trends related to field of experience.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas in a compelling manner.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and guide work to meet quality and brand standards.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms, content management systems, email marketing tools, and analytics.
  • Experience planning and producing live and/or virtual events.
  • Understanding of current trends and best practices for live and/or virtual event production.
  • Passion (or at least a major interest) in conservation.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with TNC’s Auto Safety Program;
    Employees may not drive Conservancy‑owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."
  • Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement.
  • The successful applicant must meet the requirements of The Nature Conservancy's background screening process.
Compensation

The starting pay for this position is within the range of $75,650 - $83,385. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA and the state of employment is Hawaii. Where a successful candidate’s pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including location, qualifications, skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges.
