Salary: $3,266 to $4,139 per month (SR-08, Step C to I)

Furnishes chairside assistance to a dentist in the performance of dental procedures; under general supervision perform related clinical-support duties such as cleaning and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment, and preparing restorative and other materials for dental treatment of patients; makes appointments, maintains dental records; retracts tongue and cheeks from area of operation; and performs other related duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.

• Work experience requiring the ability to read, comprehend, and apply written directions, or a high degree of verbal skill.
• Excess experience of the type described below. OR
• Graduation from high school.

One (1) year of full-time work experience which involved general chairside assistance to dentists performing examinations, fillings, extractions, and the treatment of various oral conditions; cleaning and sterilizing equipment, preparation and mixing materials for fillings and maintaining dental records.

Such experience may have been obtained by assisting a dentist in a private office or in a private or public clinic.

Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
