Role Description

This full-time, on-site Dental Assistant role is based at Kahuku Medical Center in Kahuku, HI. The Dental Assistant supports dental providers during examinations and procedures, prepares treatment rooms, and ensures that patients are welcomed, informed, and comfortable throughout their visit. Daily responsibilities include setting up and breaking down operatories, assisting chairside with dental treatments, taking and recording patient histories, and maintaining accurate documentation in patient records.

The role includes sterilizing and organizing instruments, managing inventory of dental supplies, and adhering to infection control and safety protocols. The Dental Assistant also provides patient education on oral hygiene practices, coordinates with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient clinic operations, and may assist with appointment scheduling and follow-up as needed.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated skills in Dental Assisting, including chairside support, instrument handling, and patient preparation.
  • Knowledge of Dental Care and Oral Care, with the ability to provide clear patient education on preventive and post-treatment instructions.
  • Understanding of Dentistry procedures and terminology to effectively assist providers and document care.
  • Proficiency in Sterilization and infection control practices, following established protocols and regulatory standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills, with a respectful, patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work on-site full time, multitask in a clinical setting, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in a dental or medical clinic setting and familiarity with electronic health records are beneficial.
