Support clinic staff with administrative support related to medical records management and office operations.
About the Role- Diagnose, plan, and provide comprehensive dental treatment for infants, children, and adolescents, including patients with special healthcare needs.
- Perform preventive procedures such as cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and infant oral health exams.
- Deliver restorative, endodontic (pulpotomies/pulpectomies), and minor surgical procedures (extractions) as appropriate for pediatric patients.
- Interpret dental X-rays and diagnostic imaging to guide treatment planning, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage behavior guidance techniques to help children feel calm and cooperative during treatment, including the use of nitrous oxide sedation where appropriate.
- Educate parents and caregivers on oral hygiene practices, habit management (thumb-sucking, pacifier use), nutrition, and post-treatment care.
- Review and finalize electronic medical records, treatment notes, and consent documentation, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with dental assistants and hygienists using four-handed dentistry techniques to maintain efficiency during procedures.
- Coordinate with orthodontic and oral surgery specialists on referrals for complex cases requiring interdisciplinary care.
- Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures, adhering to OSHA guidelines.
- Support practice growth by mentoring dental assistants/hygienists and contributing to a positive, patient-first office culture.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and state dental board requirements.
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Completion of an accredited Pediatric Dentistry residency program (2–3 years post-dental school); board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD) preferred.
- Proven clinical experience treating children, including patients with special healthcare needs, preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/practice management systems such as Dentrix, Care Stack, or Edge preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pediatric growth and development, behavior management techniques, and sedation protocols (nitrous oxide; IV sedation/general anesthesia certification a plus).
- Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and compassionately to children, parents, and caregivers.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume practice while maintaining a calm, reassuring demeanor.
- Commitment to HIPAA regulations, patient privacy, and evidence-based pediatric dental care.
- Willingness to participate in community outreach, school screenings, or continuing education initiatives is a plus.
- Experience working in dental or orthodontic clinics is highly desirable.
