About the Position:
This position is located in the Family Medicine Service Department at Desmond T. Doss Health Clinic located in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
Duties- Provide first contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for infants, children, youth, and adults.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team of individuals who collectively take responsibility for the ongoing care of patients.
- Coordinate and/or integrate care across all elements of the healthcare system.
- Complete required records pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.
- Responsible for the actions of and to interview, train, and evaluate the Family Practice (FP) staff, including but not limited to multiple physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
- Provide administrative and technical supervision of all personnel in the family practice and allergy/immunology clinic.
- Establish overall plans for work to be accomplished by subordinates. Set and adjust short and long term priorities.
- Assign work based upon priorities, selective considerations of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and capabilities of employees.
- Provide advice, counsel, and instruction on both work and administrative matters.
- Make decisions on work problems presented by subordinate supervisors and/or work leaders.
- Serve on clinic and installation committees, attend administrative briefings, and planning meetings on a regular basis, and as needed attends meetings and presents briefings at Army Health Center (AHC) in absence of the Commander.
- Serve as Family Physician at the U.S. Army Health Clinic.
- Provide for or performs examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of outpatients to include, chronic conditions and complicated diagnoses and treatments, requiring the training and experience of a board certified physician.
- Examine patients, order and evaluate the full range of radiology and laboratory tests, makes diagnosis and prescribes appropriate treatment to include drugs, inoculations, nursing and dietary care.
- Provide occupational health follow-up care for Department of Army employees. Coordinate complex occupational health issue with the Chief Nurse, Occupational Health Clinic.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
- This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
- Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
