JOB DUTIES : These positions are part of the Kaua’i Region Medical Group (KRMG), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, with the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region serving as its sole member. The HHSC Kaua’i Region encompasses Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH), Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH), and the Kaua’i Region Clinics.

The Kaua'i Region Clinics network spans several locations and provides the community with a comprehensive range of primary and specialized healthcare services. This includes, but is not limited to, Family Practice, Outpatient Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Urology, Gastroenterology, Podiatry, Internal Medicine, and more.

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Staff Physicians who are committed to delivering the highest quality of general medical care to patients within the HHSC Kaua’i Region across various specialties. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing direct care and treatment to patients.
  • Leading and conducting patient evaluations, treatments, and specialized technical procedures.
  • Serving as a clinical resource for staff and fellow physicians.
  • Facilitating health education for family members and coordinating referrals to other disciplines and consultations with allied clinicians.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates must possess strong clinical knowledge to deliver accurate diagnoses based on visual and auditory indicators. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent decision-making skills, compassion, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to connect with patients and their families. Candidates should also be adept at organizing work, prioritizing tasks, and multitasking, with a thorough understanding of various diseases.

Strategic thinking and excellent bedside manner are also crucial for success in these roles.

These positions report directly to the Regional Chief Medical Officer (RCMO) or their designee.

THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE: Applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experiences may not be gained concurrently. In addition, qualifying work experiences are based on a 40-hour work week.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical or osteopathic school with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree; AND
  • Completion of a residency program accredited by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

LICENSURES:

  • A current license to practice medicine in the State of Hawai'i is required. The physician must be duly licensed as a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy and must be approved for Active Staff membership and clinical privileges on the Medical Staff of the Hospital in accordance with the Hospital's Medical Staff bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
