Job DescriptionServe as a Physician (Emergency Medicine) in a Medical Treatment Facility. Provide direct clinical emergency medical care to a wide range of patient conditions including emergent, urgent, and non-urgent complaints which includes pediatric, obstetric, gynecological, medical, surgical, neurological and orthopedic disciplines. Conduct initial resuscitation and stabilization of patients. Order appropriate laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic tests, interprets the total medical and surgical evidence, incorporating information into an accurate diagnosis or appraisal.
Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including lifesaving and lesser procedures. Maintain health and clinical records in accordance with current regulations and standards. Provide supervision/online direction of base ambulance and in-house emergency response. Guide work distribution during assigned shift or in the absence of the regular supervisor. Participate in departmental and hospital performance improvement activities and makes recommendations on improvement of work methods, organizational features and the restructuring of positions.
Monitor and analyze individual performance measurement data for purposes of continuous performance improvement in the department. Serve as an assistant to the Department Head and acts on behalf of DH in their absence. Identify and recommend developmental and training needs of staff. Participate in the Graduate Medical Education program for Emergency Medicine residents, off-service residents, physician assistant residents, medical students and other medical trainees.
Instruct, train, supervise, and evaluate medical students, nurse practitioner students, physician assistant students, and interns rotating through Emergency Services.
