Description:

Suitable for students with basic foundational knowledge and little to no practical experience, ideal for freshmen or sophomores who have completed only introductory courses.

Position Scope

* Provides cultural information through demonstrations and lectures, and teaches songs, dances, crafts, games and cultural phrases to guests.

* Learns how to create, maintain and/or do repairs of moderate difficulty on cultural artifacts, buildings, and props using a variety of equipment and materials.

* Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

* Must be in good health and have a voice that can endure up to four hours of speaking in any given time frame

* Must be capable of moving freely among the guests and be capable of a full range of body movement.

* Must be able to communicate in English.

* Must know the basics of playing the ukulele.

* Must look Polynesian.

* Should be knowledgeable about the culture being represented.

* Should be able to speak the language of the culture being represented.

* Should be a high school graduate.

* No prior work experience necessary.

* Must exemplify the University Honor Code, including the dress and grooming principles and expectations.

* Preference will be given to students who can work during academic breaks.

Work Schedule

19 hours, TBD

Approximate starting hourly rate:

$14.00 - $16.00

The wage offered could be above or below range based on education and experience as it relates to the job description.
