Job Summary
This posting is for Educational Assistant positions, primarily at the Educational Assistant III level. Positions down to Educational Assistant I may be filled if needed.
Salary RangeEducational Assistant I: $3,019.78 per month
Educational Assistant II: $3,260.76 per month
Educational Assistant III: $3,526.98 per month

- Educational Assistant II – 1 year General Experience, 0 years Specialized Experience
- Educational Assistant III – 1 year General Experience, 1 year Specialized Experience
Some positions require a current, valid driver's license.
Lift and Carry RequirementSome positions require the ability to lift and carry up to 65 pounds unassisted and/or 100 pounds with assistance.
Substitutions Allowed- Child Development Associate credential or related program may substitute for one‑half year Specialized Experience.
- 15 baccalaureate‑level semester credits may substitute for one‑half year General Experience up to one year.
- 15 semester credits in Education or a closely related field may substitute for one‑half year Specialized Experience up to two years.
- Associate degree may substitute for one year General Experience.
- Associate degree in Education may substitute for all General and Specialized Experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher may substitute for all General and Specialized Experience.
- High school graduates from a Department school may substitute up to two years Specialized Experience for completing certain courses or credit points in TAP or LSP programs.
- Excess Specialized Experience may be substituted for General Experience.
Experience must demonstrate the scope and suitability to perform the duties of the position, not merely accumulate required years. Full‑time 40‑hour workweeks are used for calculation; part‑time experience is prorated.
BenefitsFull‑time instructional staff receive applicable shortage and school‑year differentials. Temporary positions may be extended and may lead to permanent employment. All eligibility requirements are maintained in accordance with the Hawaii State Department of Education.
