Salary: $3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR-11, Step C to I).
Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Shift Work: Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Will perform highly complex library support work; supervise and participate in performing complex library support work; and/or perform substantive technical/paraprofessional library support work which requires knowledge and understanding of techniques used in one or more of the basic elements of library sciences; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Legal Authorization to Work: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- General
Experience:
One (1) year of clerical work experience, which demonstrated knowledge of spelling and arithmetic; and the ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and compare words and numbers quickly and accurately; demonstrating knowledge of and ability to perform various clerical procedures, operate various kinds of office equipment, and deal with others in a tactful and polite manner;
or be at least comparable to the Library Assistant II level. - Specialized
Experience:
Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a library which involved performing various library support activities (e.g., circulation work, stack maintenance, processing orders for library materials, posting receipt of periodicals and other materials, locating and verifying bibliographic information using standard sources, etc.) and which demonstrated knowledge of library terminology, practices, policies and procedures and understanding of the nature and organization of library materials.
At least one year of the required Specialized Experience must have been comparable to the Library Assistant IV level. - Supervisory Aptitude: For certain positions, supervisory aptitude may be required. Demonstrates aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work where opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments;
or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating possession of supervisory potential. - Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
