First​/Second Grade Teacher

Position Overview

Mālamalama Waldorf School, located on the east side of Hawai’i, is hiring a Grade 1/2 (Mixed Class) Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year.

Mālamalama Waldorf School was founded in 1978 and serves preschool through 8th grade in the Puna district. The school is accredited by AWSNA, WASC, HAIS, and is a WECAN member. It is situated on a 20‑acre wooded parcel in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision.

• Teach a combined Grade 1/2 class using Waldorf curriculum and methods.
• Prepare and deliver daily lessons that include academics, movement, and the arts.
• Support each child’s social, emotional, and academic development.
• Maintain a warm, organized, and beautiful classroom environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents and provide guidance on child development.
• Work collaboratively with faculty and participate in meetings and collegial work.
• Plan and attend school festivals, field trips, and community events.
• Contribute to the life of the school with creativity, professionalism, and enthusiasm.
• Intend to continue with the class as students progress through the grades.

• Experienced Waldorf educator with completed Waldorf training.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Previous Waldorf teaching experience preferred.
• Commitment to excellence in teaching and strong communication skills.
• Ability to provide parent education and work collegially.
• Artistic and musical abilities, social dynamic skills, sturdy presence, and strong organizational skills for running a combined grades class.
