School Administrator

Mālamalama Waldorf School is seeking an experienced, organized, and compassionate School Administrator to provide leadership for the administrative, operational, and community life of the school. Working closely with the Board of Directors, Faculty Chair, Executive Team, and broader school community, this position plays a central role in supporting the school's mission, organizational health, and long-term sustainability.

Mālamalama Waldorf School was founded in 1978 and is located on a beautiful 20-acre rainforest campus in Keaʻau on Hawaiʻi Island. MWS is a well-respected independent Waldorf school serving preschool through Grade 8 and is accredited by AWSNA, WASC, and HAIS.

The School Administrator serves as the primary administrative leader of the school and oversees daily operations, administrative systems, staff supervision, financial oversight, enrollment support, community relations, compliance, facilities coordination, and strategic planning. The position works closely with the Board of Directors, Faculty Chair, Executive Team, Parent Hui, and school community to ensure the healthy functioning of the school.

Qualified candidates will have administrative leadership experience in a nonprofit, educational, or mission-driven organization, experience supervising staff and managing budgets, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative governance structure. Familiarity with Waldorf education, nonprofit administration, enrollment management, fundraising, and community outreach is highly desirable. United States work authorization and strong computer and organizational skills are required.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative and self-directed leader who values clear communication, thoughtful stewardship, relationship‑building, confidentiality, and a commitment to fostering a healthy and thriving school community.

This is a full‑time salaried exempt position with a salary range of $53,000–$73,000 depending on experience. Benefits include individual medical insurance and tuition remission.

The Big Island of Hawaiʻi offers an exceptional quality of life with rich cultural diversity, stunning natural beauty, and abundant outdoor opportunities. Our faculty and families are deeply connected to the school community and work collaboratively to support the healthy development of children.
