Summary

Haloalaunuiakea Early Learning Center is hiring an Early Childhood Teacher's Aide in Eleele, Hawaii. We are accepting applications for the Eleele location. The Teacher Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. They must communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment, assist in implementing a quality educational program, build positive relationships with children and parents, observe and document children's interests and progress, and relay information back to parents and staff.

The Assistant implements developmentally appropriate activities under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.

We are looking for an energetic Teacher's Assistant to join our team! You will assist the head teacher with planning and implementing whole-classroom and small-group instruction. You are passionate about learning and love working with children. With strong creative and organizational skills, you connect with individual students and develop strong relationships with faculty to create an engaging learning environment.

Daily Duties
  • Teach and assist students individually or in small groups to master assignments and reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers
  • Supervise and engage students throughout the day
  • Provide differentiated support for students
  • Teach social skills to students
  • Daily cleaning and disinfestation of toys, furnishings, and materials
  • Prepare lesson materials and supervise students
  • Reinforce rules, tasks, and assignments
  • Observe tasks and provide feedback
  • Perform other duties as necessary
Duties

Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in managing classroom activities and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Support the development and implementation of lesson plans tailored to early childhood education.
  • Engage with children during play and learning activities, fostering their social and emotional growth.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding children's progress and needs.
  • Provide care and supervision for children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist in behavior management and support children with special needs or disabilities.
  • Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
  • Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.
  • Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
  • Encourage self‑help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
  • Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to childcare center.
  • Follow all center policies and state regulations.
  • Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • High-energy with a love of working with children
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Quick learner
  • Honest, kind, understanding, and supportive
  • Must currently live on Kaua'i
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
  • Understanding of child development
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Consistently follow routines and rules daily
