Girl Scout After School Leadership Program Advisor

Girl Scouts create the world they want to live in and strive to make it better every single day. They explore their strengths, take on new challenges, and can always be themselves, regardless of background or ability.

This is a part-time position (under 20 hours per month) responsible for leading and facilitating the Girl Scout After School Leadership Program (ASLP) in an after-school setting.

The employment period for this position is August, 2026 - June 30, 2027, and is subject to annual contract renewal. Paid training is provided prior to the start date.

Program Details

  • Program operates at one school site, meeting bi-monthly for two hours
  • Additional sessions may be added based on enrollment
  • Includes one hour of planning and preparation per program level (age group)
  • Requires attendance at a monthly all-staff meeting (approximately one hour)
  • Advisors must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to each program session
  • Advisors are compensated for planning, facilitating, and concluding program activities

Position Overview

The ASLP Advisor creates a positive, engaging environment where youth can develop leadership skills through Girl Scout programming. This role requires strong communication, organization, and facilitation skills, along with a passion for working with youth.

Required Skills

  • Be energetic, trustworthy, and committed to the values of Girl Scouting;
  • Enjoy working with school-aged children;
  • Be an independent and innovative thinker and problem solver who thrives in a team environment, is willing to tackle new challenges, and is able to manage multiple assignments while meeting specific deadlines with minimal supervision;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written);
  • Basic understanding of youth development and age-appropriate practices;
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners;

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States
  • Willingness and ability to pass a background check
  • Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation and ability to commute to assigned school site
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Girl Scouts of Hawai'i
  • Must become a registered adult member of Girl Scouts USA ($25 membership fee)

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, child development, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in childcare, youth education, or after-school programming
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification
  • Experience facilitating group activities or leading youth programs
  • Ability to develop engaging lesson plans or activities
  • Strong knowledge of Hawaiian culture and language
