A Snapshot of Your Day:
This role is responsible for the service and maintenance of Siemens Gamesa wind turbines at Kawailoa wind farm, on the island of Oahu, HI. Although this position will have a home wind farm site, it will also be part of a mobile team that supports one other site in Hawaii as needed. Provide excellent service to our customers, analyze and react to people in stressful, and hazardous situations.

• Contribute to the improvement of new and updated field procedures and standard methodologies.
• Perform work inside the wind turbine enclosure at an elevated height of 300 feet.
• Ability to think clearly and maintain composure during stressful and/or hazardous situations is critical to success in the position.
• Physical requirements include but are not limited to: ladder climbing up to 300 feet, up stairs, standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, work above shoulders, pushing, pulling, exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces and extreme weather conditions.
• Capable of efficiently tackling additional roles and responsibilities at an operating wind farm.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required along with 2 or more years’ experience in a relevant field. A college degree or technical certificate in a field related to the wind turbine industry (e.g., electrical/mechanical systems) is desirable. Various combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Proven ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment. Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by safety regulations. Must pass a physical test administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
• Strong ability to prioritize and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation; ability to analyze and resolve problems independently.
• Hands-on experience working with electrical and mechanical systems including PLC programming and converters.
• Experience interacting with customers at various levels of responsibility within their respective organizations.
• Traveling (up to 25%) to our other site within Hawaii is a requirement of the job. Traveling to the mainland US is also required for training on an as-needed basis. Must be eligible to hold a valid Passport and Driver’s License.

Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver’s license at the time of application with a clean driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV checks throughout employment with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

Kawailoa wind farm is a 30 turbine site located on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. We’ve been operating for twelve years and provide renewable energy to the island of Oahu. You’ll be joining an existing team of five wind turbine technicians, who each value safety, independent working, and a strong commitment to sustainable energy. We work alongside our customer daily and are therefore looking for someone with great personal skills and work ethic to compliment the team.

Our team is headed by a Site Supervisor, who you’ll report to directly, and an Operations Manager for the region.

As part of our region, we also have a wind farm located on the island of Maui, which you will be required to travel to on an as-needed basis. We value our work-life balance, and while the job can be demanding, Hawaii offers great prospects as a place to live in and spend your downtime. This is a full-time position, with overtime occasionally required (up to 20%).
