Electrical Engineer V

The City needs you to ensure that all professional electrical engineering work for water systems, and construction work for residential and commercial buildings meet safety standards. You will perform difficult professional engineering work in reviewing and analyzing electrical designs, plans, and specifications for adequacy and compliance with provisions of the electrical code and departmental standards; and perform other related duties as required.

You must be able to climb ladders, crawl under structures, and perform occasional lifting for short periods as you ensure contractors have thoroughly performed tasks to your high standards. Inspections may be at construction sites where you may be exposed to construction and traffic hazards, chemicals, noise, moving equipment, and electrical hazards such as an arc flash.

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.

Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.
