Location: Wheeler Army Airfield
Responsibilities
- Serve as Project Engineer for Engineering Division.
- Coordinate planning, design, execution, construction, and move‑in activities for all projects and with all major stakeholders.
- Manage all project scopes of work, milestones/schedules, and budgets from planning through construction.
- Provide technical support for ongoing engineering matters to the U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii and other Director of Public Works (DPW) divisions.
- Provide special disciplinary programs support for the development, management, and execution of architectural, civil, structural, traffic, electrical, and mechanical programs.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination and a completed background investigation.
- Requires eligibility for a Secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
- Requires a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or territories to operate vehicles.
- Requires 10% Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel.
- One‑year probationary period unless prior qualifications apply.
- Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program, OR - Combination of
Education and Experience: - College‑level education and technical experience providing thorough knowledge of physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering.
- Demonstrated through professional registration (Engineer Intern, Engineer in Training, or Professional Engineer), passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination, completion of 60 semester hours of specified courses, or related curriculum with at least one year of professional experience.
- Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in architecture or a related field with 60 semester hours of coursework, including at least 30 semester hours of architectural design and 6 semester hours in structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. - Combination of
Education and Experience: - College‑level education and technical experience providing thorough knowledge of architectural principles.
- Demonstrated through one year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation, or five years of such experience in the absence of college courses.
- Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience including technical reviews of designs, plans or project specifications; providing engineering guidance; and providing project management in engineering design, contracting, solicitation, and/or inspection. - Education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in an engineering or architecture field. - Combination of
Education and Experience:
Education and experience may be combined, requiring a computed percentage of requirements at least 100% based on months of experience and graduate semester hours.
- Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience including technical reviews of designs, plans or project specifications; providing engineering subject matter expertise advice; and providing project management in engineering design, contracting, solicitation, and/or inspection. - Education:
Must meet the same educational requirements as for GS‑11.
- Foreign education must be evaluated by an accredited organization to determine equivalency to a U.S. accredited program.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Applicants must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
- Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
