Responsibilities- Independently purchases a wide range of goods, supplies, equipment, services, etc., for an organization using informal purchasing methods; and performs other related duties as assigned.
- Legal Authorization to Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
- Basic
Experience:
Work experience which demonstrated the ability to read, comprehend and apply written directions, perform basic arithmetic computations including percentages. This experience may be met from part‑time and/or unpaid work. Participation must have been continuous, though not necessarily full‑time. It may also be met by graduation from high school or equivalent. - General Experience (TWO (2) YEARS): Experience that demonstrated the ability to request information from others, explain procedural requirements orally and in writing, and demonstrated knowledge/experience as described under A or B below or a combination of both:
- A. Experience demonstrating possession and application of a good working knowledge of governmental purchasing methods, laws, regulations, policies, procedures and requirements. Examples include account clerical or pre‑audit work involving examination of documents supporting governmental purchases to ensure proper procedures were followed.
- B. Experience preparing and submitting requisitions for purchasing that involved: (1) gathering information regarding the desired product and alternatives; (2) obtaining prices or quotations; (3) writing up the requisition for submittal; and (4) demonstrating understanding of purchasing policies, procedures and requirements.
- Non‑Qualifying
Experience:
Experience in requisitioning goods that did not involve information‑gathering and writing as described above, or experience in authorization or review of payroll claims. - Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
- Driver's License: Some positions require that applicants possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
