Respiratory Therapist (RRT / CRTT) – Hospital-Based

Position Summary
The Respiratory Therapist works in the hospital’s Respiratory Therapy Unit and provides independent, evidence-based respiratory care in accordance with physician orders. This role delivers diagnostic testing, life-support ventilation, and therapeutic treatments for adult, pediatric, neonatal, and critically ill patients across multiple care settings.

• Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation and life-support systems (IMV, CPAP, BiPAP, PEEP, etc.).
• Perform airway management, emergency intubation assistance, suctioning, tracheostomy care, and ventilator weaning.
• Participate in Code Blue and resuscitation efforts, including CPR and patient transport to ICU.
• Assess and evaluate patients with respiratory disorders; review labs, ABGs, chest X-rays, and vital signs.
• Administer respiratory treatments, aerosol therapies, chest physiotherapy, and oxygen therapy.
• Conduct pulmonary function testing and pulse oximetry monitoring.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and disease management.
• Support cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, sleep studies (polysomnography), and EEG electrode placement as assigned.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards.
• Clean, sterilize, and perform basic maintenance of respiratory therapy equipment.

• May include evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT)
• Credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
• Experience with critical care, ventilators, and acute hospital settings preferred
