Location:

Hawaii Cancer Care

Pay Range: $29.51 - $54.82

Flexible On-Call Support

Provide per diem coverage for oncology infusion services across three clinic locations in Honolulu, Aiea, and Kahului. Length of time 6 months.

Inter-Island Travel Coverage

The practice fully covers all travel expenses, including airfare and ground transport, for shifts at the Maui clinic.

Job Description Summary

Provides safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including but not limited to: patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.

Key Performance Areas
  • Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non-oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers, following Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines.
  • Accurate and safe disposal of biohazardous waste per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
  • Responsible for new and ongoing patient education, continual patient assessment, and support.
  • Thorough, accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatment rendered to patients, ensuring appropriate charges.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and planned treatment course.
  • Telephone triage: prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, family members, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices, responding within appropriate time frames.
  • Assist with inventory and re‑stocking medical supplies, recommend purchase of new items as needed.
  • Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings; attend all mandatory staff meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Assist in training new employees related to job duties according to JBIs.
  • Work at any Company location to meet business needs on an as‑needed basis; work overtime when given sufficient notice.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy, patient’s rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law.
Education

Nursing Degree.

Job Qualifications and Requirements
  • Nursing Degree
Certifications/Licenses
  • Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi‑state license
  • Current CPR and BLS certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed
Previous Experience (including Minimum Years Of Experience)
  • Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and condition; strong critical thinking skills; ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills required.
