Massage Therapist
Responsible for ensuring the highest level of satisfaction for all members and guests of Kohanaiki Club by performing services of the highest quality with the spirit of Aloha. The Massage Therapist will maintain Kohanaiki Spa's established standards and protocols in all services and in interactions with clientele and always exhibit a demeanor of utmost professionalism. Performs massages, treatments, and therapies within the scope of Massage Therapy license.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, regulations and policies and procedures within the massage therapy field. Relies on experience and judgment in performing services to deliver the best possible guest experience.
Required duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned as required:
- Provide guests with personal, gracious, and professional service by performing quality treatments and anticipating their individual needs.
- Arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to your first scheduled appointment.
- Will work scheduled days and times based on business needs and/or commitment made to Kohanaiki as arranged with Director of Spa.
- Perform appointments at their scheduled time with no delay.
- Maintain an exceptional level of cleanliness, hygiene and organization of the Spa treatment rooms.
- Provide guests with a thorough knowledge of the full range of services offered.
- Be knowledgeable about all aspects of the spa such as appointment booking procedures, clean up procedures and Menu of Services as well as other Kohanaiki activities and encourage guests to avail themselves of them.
- Provide feedback to the Director of Spa/Principal Massage Therapist regarding guest satisfaction with Kohanaiki Spa's offerings and service.
- Treat all members, guests and colleagues with warmth, courtesy, and sincerity and be sensitive to their dignity, needs and ideas.
Specific requirements include:
- Provide exceptional customer service and deliver massage treatments of the highest standard.
- Perform detailed body analysis:
Be able to identify conditions and determine the appropriate type of care and products to correct or improve the condition. - Educated in and able to use various instruments and specialized equipment to aid in the delivery of massage services.
- Perform professional treatments appropriate for guest health concerns and conditions.
- Knowledgeable in the use of specialized products to provide guests with the best possible results from their treatment.
- Provide appropriate bodywork for therapeutic and/or relaxation purposes.
- Administer other treatments as outlined in the Spa Menu of Services for which you are licensed to perform.
- Knowledgeable of all body care products available in the Spa to recommend the appropriate products to clients to address any related concerns or issues they have.
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms as described in Spa checklist and as instructed.
- Clean treatment rooms after treatments, maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, orderliness, and functionality.
- Share laundry and general housekeeping duties with other staff members.
- Attend and participate in department and company meetings and training sessions as required.
- Keep applicable records of client needs and preferences, and the services provided and monitor appointment calendar.
- Communicate with Director of Spa/Principal Massage Therapist regarding product inventory stock and needed supplies, materials and/or equipment to ensure smooth operation of the department.
- As directed by the Director of Spa/Principal Massage Therapist, assists in other areas of the Spa, including but not limited to training, administrative tasks, scheduling appointments, and utilizing point-of-sale system to conduct business transactions.
Referred knowledge and qualifications include:
- Licensed by the State of Hawaii as a Massage Therapist and trained in Deep Tissue and Sports Therapy Massage.
- Minimum of 500 Hours Massage training.
- At least one year's work experience in an upscale or luxury Spa operation.
- Minimum of High School level reading, writing and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to print legibly.
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility as well as a sincere willingness to be a team player by fostering cooperation and creativity.
- Willing to share and to provide excellent service to both members/guests and other team members both within the Spa and in other departments.
- Exhibits exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills and can work both independently and in a group environment.
- Able to remain calm, courteous and helpful in a busy environment.
- Shows attention to detail and accuracy and always follows established protocols.
- The desire to learn and be trained in spa treatments, techniques, and therapies.
Physical requirements include:
