Job Description

The Bartender creates a memorable experience for our hotel guests by providing welcoming, helpful, and exceptional service while maintaining a clean, comfortable, and inviting bar environment. The Bartender demonstrates the attributes of a great Host by being aware and attentive to guest needs, creating conversation, and sharing a moment that makes a real connection with our guests. Maintain warm, hospitable guest relations in all guest contact.

Respond to individual guest needs as they occur and anticipate additional requests. Answer questions and make suggestions regarding menu items, preparation methods, cocktails, wine, beer, and other beverage selections. Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and consistently according to recipes and guest preferences. Prepare garnishes, mixers, and other bar ingredients; maintain appropriate par levels throughout each shift.

Set up, stock, and break down the bar, including glassware, ice, liquor, wine, beer, mixers, and service supplies. Use proper mixing, shaking, stirring, pouring, and presentation techniques to prepare quality beverages for our guests. Monitor guests to fulfill additional requests, assess when their food and beverage experience is at an end, and ensure guests are ready for their bill. Accurately compute bills, process payments, make change, and reconcile cash and credit transactions as needed.

Verify guests are of legal drinking age, follow responsible alcohol-service practices, and decline service when appropriate. Respond to guest questions and provide information about hotel services, features, room amenities, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions. Ask for and confirm any future dining reservations when appropriate. Respond to and resolve all guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.

Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar and service area throughout the shift. Monitor and rotate product, communicate low-stock items, and report damaged or expired products to the supervisor. Report all items in need of repair to the supervisor and maintain equipment used in work. Protect guest safety and well-being by following all health, sanitation, and safety standards. Adjust to high-pressure conditions and remain open to change.

Assume responsibility for personal growth and development. Always conduct oneself (acts and dresses) professionally; set standards for all. Express ideas and convey information clearly, effectively, and professionally. Work to resolve disagreements and remain respectful of peers and co-workers. Scrupulously follow all Ko'a Hotel & Resort policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by management.

What you will bring

Knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate with guests, associates, and vendors. Knowledge of beverage service, cocktail preparation, and responsible alcohol-service practices.
