Position Summary
Recruitment Number: 26‑0204
The section supervisor in the Claims Management Branch participates in the administration of a self‑insured workers’ compensation program for executive branch employees, charter school employees, and the Legislature. The program administers and maintains the State’s workers’ compensation program in compliance with Hawaii laws.
Key Responsibilities- Assign and review the work of subordinates engaged in processing workers’ compensation claims.
- Provide ongoing training to subordinates and conduct statewide claims processing training sessions.
- Handle the most complex workers’ compensation claims cases.
- Attend administrative hearings.
- Make recommendations for improvement of the employer’s statewide workers’ compensation programs.
- Legal Authorization to Work
:
Citizenship, nationality, or permanent residency in the United States; or eligibility under federal law for unrestricted employment. - Basic Education/Experience
:
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university. - Selective Certification – Workers’ Compensation Claims Management Experience
: 3‑1/2 years of experience investigating and monitoring questionable claims, representing employers in hearings, and negotiating settlements. - Staff Specialist or Supervisory Experience (minimum 1 year):

Experience:
Human resources management experience planning and directing work of others, training and developing subordinates, and evaluating performance.

$6,535 to $7,952 per month (SR‑26, Step D to I)
