Salary: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR‑24, Step D to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant’s qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Performs the most difficult human resources work independently and furnishes human resources management advisory services and evaluations for complex, new, or dynamic organizations; serves as a specialist, consultant, and troubleshooter with independent responsibility for a functional area in resolving very difficult human resources problems; and performs related duties as assigned.
Legal Authorization to Work RequirementThe State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
QualificationsBasic Education/
Experience:
A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university.
Specialized
Experience:
Three and one‑half years of professional work experience in one or more of the following human resources management functions:
- Recruitment
- Placement
- Examination
- Position classification
- Pay or wage administration
- Employee relations and services
- Employee development
- Human resources program development and services
- Labor relations
- Human resources research
Such experience must demonstrate the ability to deal satisfactorily with fellow workers and/or operating personnel, to recognize problems in the operation of a human resources program, to suggest practical solutions, and to accept responsibility in the field of human resources administration. Clerical or technical experience limited to the application of human resources rules, regulations, and procedures in support of the above functions is not qualifying.
Quality of
Experience:
Possession of the required number of years of experience is not proof of qualification. The applicant’s overall experience must have a scope and level of responsibility that conclusively demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude rather than actual supervisory experience may be accepted. This requirement is considered met when there is strong affirmative evidence of the necessary supervisory abilities and/or potential.
Driver’s License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment. The immediate vacancy has this requirement.
