Position: Payroll and HR Specialist (Part-Time)

Location: Honolulu

Salary: $25-30 per hour; preferred schedule approx. 20-25 hours per week.

Local company seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Payroll & HR Specialist to support the Human Resources team. This role is responsible for managing payroll administration while providing HR support in areas such as benefits, compliance, employee records, leave administration, and HR programs. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage all phases of payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review payroll reports and maintain payroll records and documentation.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
  • Assist with audits, including retirement plans, workers’ compensation, and compliance-related audits.
  • Support benefits administration, including employee inquiries and open enrollment activities.
  • Assist with leave administration, including FMLA, TDI, workers’ compensation, and other leave programs.
  • Maintain HR records, personnel files, and compliance documentation.
  • Support HR policy updates, employee communications, and HR programs.
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, and various HR administrative functions.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and other HR-related documentation.
  • Support employee engagement and recognition initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in payroll and human resources.
  • Experience with payroll processing, benefits administration, and HR compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and payroll regulations.
  • Experience using HRIS systems such as ADP or similar platforms.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Exceptional organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
