The Law Offices of Daniel J. Knight, APLC is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Paralegal to join our expanding firm.

The ideal candidate is organized, a strong communicator, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The firm focuses on plaintiff-side cases involving construction law, real property, and general civil matters, as well as a work group that handles estate planning and estate litigation. The candidate will play a key role in supporting attorneys with case management, legal research, and document preparation while ensuring efficiency and high-quality legal service.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • Assist attorneys in legal research and case preparation.
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and demand letters.
  • Prepare and organize legal documents, exhibits, and trial materials.
  • File documents electronically using the JEFS e-filing system.
  • Maintain and organize case files, ensuring all materials are accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate and schedule court hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
  • Correspond with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and experts.
  • Manage case deadlines and ensure timely filings.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Conduct initial client intake and document gathering.
  • Handle calendaring and scheduling for attorneys.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in legal representation.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Highly organized self-starter who can manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and JEFS e-file (training available for the right candidate).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience drafting legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence.
  • Ability to review financial records and case materials for accuracy.
  • Works well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Takes initiative while working independently.
  • Comfortable interacting with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and other legal professionals.
  • Prior paralegal or legal assistant experience preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is based on experience, ranging from $25-$35 per hour. The firm offers opportunities for growth and skill development. After the probationary period, certain paid holidays and paid time off can be negotiated. The firm will consider part-time candidates, though full-time (30-40 hours per week) is preferred.
