OverviewWe are seeking a Manager for Campus Facilities to lead the team responsible for maintaining our campus. The role requires in‑depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and work order management, as well as oversight of emergency operations, continuity planning, and sustainability initiatives.
Job SummaryResponsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Building Maintenance staff, supervising staff, servicing clients, and issuing appropriate work products to meet daily operational needs.
Essential Responsibilities- Supervise all Building Maintenance staff and contractors, including hiring and termination recommendations, setting performance standards, and conducting written performance evaluations.
- Plan, schedule, and resolve workflow challenges; develop new work methods when appropriate; assign work to maximize group strengths.
- Consult with the Director, implement disciplinary actions as warranted, and coach staff to meet changing operational demands.
- Monitor staff time and attendance, process payroll, and make approval or denial recommendations for vacation and leave requests.
- Review, prioritize, and assign work orders related to facility maintenance, building configuration changes, and miscellaneous faculty requests.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure work quality, safe handling of hazardous chemicals, and compliance with all governmental regulations.
- Provide hands‑on training for staff on hazardous material safety procedures and maintain the Hazardous Material Safety Data Sheet folder.
– Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3years supervisory experience of a multiskilled workforce.
- Proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively with work crews, handle physical demands (up to 50lb.), and work odd shifts.
- Knowledge of safe handling, storage, and disposal of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides.
- Valid driver’s license.
– Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in management or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience as a superintendent or manager for facilities, grounds, or custodial services.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
- Experience with construction project oversight and vendor procurement.
- Experience with Green Seal certification and working with a diverse workforce.
- Sensitivity to Hawaiian culture and Christian values.
Occasional desk‑based work, light/fine manipulation, standing/walking, and lifting/carrying objects up to 50lb. Regularly. Tasks may include squatting, kneeling, climbing hills, and working in cramped or awkward positions. Frequently conducted outdoors in all weather conditions.
Working ConditionsWork is conducted in both office and outdoor environments, with occasional exposure to hazardous materials, dust, smoke, odors, and noise. Regular business hours are Monday‑Friday with additional evening and weekend hours as required.
