SVP Construction Manager; Hawaiian General Manager

Our client is seeking a General Manager to lead its Hawaii business. This executive will have broad responsibility for safety, financial performance, talent, business development, estimating and project operations.

The General Manager will inherit a business built on strong relationships and successful project execution. The mandate is to protect those strengths while raising performance, developing leaders, exercising disciplined project selection and positioning the firm for durable, profitable growth.

This is a rare opportunity to move beyond leadership of individual projects and take responsibility for an entire $50-100M operating company: its people, culture, clients, project portfolio, financial results and future direction.

The General Manager is accountable for the performance and long-term health of the firm.

The executive will establish direction, align the team around an actionable business plan and create the operating rhythm needed to deliver safe, profitable and high-quality work.

The successful candidate will be equally credible in the field, with customers and in financial and operational reviews. The leader will empower managers, develop future leaders, maintain clear accountability and ensure that risks are identified early and addressed directly.

• Approximately 15 or more years of progressive experience in commercial building construction, including significant project-management and operating leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated leadership of multiple projects, project teams or a business unit, with increasing responsibility for people, financial results and client relationships.
• Strong command of project financials, job-cost reporting, forecasting, margin management and early identification of risk.
• Meaningful experience in estimating, bid review, project selection, preconstruction and operational planning.
• Experience attracting, assessing, developing and retaining project-management, superintendent and craft talent.
• Established credibility with owners, design professionals, subcontractors and industry partners.
• Experience in Hawaii construction or a strong, credible connection to the Hawaii market is highly desirable.
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or technical school.
• Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company requirements.

• Develop the annual business plan with clear, actionable goals and update the plan quarterly as conditions change.
• Maintain command of project and business-unit financial performance, including profitability, cost management and emerging financial risk.
• Conduct regular job-cost reviews and prepare operating leaders to present project performance clearly and candidly.
